A familiar challenge for many Project Manager's is integrating cross-department input and collaboration from various different stakeholders within an organization into one business objective. This has not been known to be an easy task to achieve, and development, marketing, and operations have struggled to find this balance.

Today, one of the latest and greatest trends across the tech industry is DevOps. A portmanteau, DevOps (Development + Operations) is a software development methodology that combines software development with information technology operations and promises to increase an organization's ability to deliver applications and services at a high velocity. However, there still seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding what it is and everything that it entails.

The Process

The Process

Contrary to what some may believe, DevOps is not about developers assuming work from those in operations, but rather a jelling of the two roles into one. Thus, from Operations to Development those involved are included in the entire process, from commencement to deployment, and beyond.

Although DevOps is primarily a method of approaching how a company performs, rather than an actual role. Today, job titles such as “DevOps Engineer" do exist, however one does not need to be a DevOps engineer to work in a DevOps environment.
