The Edible Schoolyard is a website that focuses on teaching children about preparing, nurturing and growing organic food, and adopting an organic food-based lifestyle.

Edible Schoolyard Foundation - Formerly the Chez Panisse Foundation, both of which are helmed by restauranteur, author, and food activist Alice Waters, is known for using local, organic foods, and seeks to inspire schools to do the same. The Edible Schoolyard foundation focuses on educating and providing culinary services to schools - edifying and making children more aware of what they eat and the healthiness of the food.

While we hate to toot our own horn too loudly, the Edible Schoolyard website is a masterpiece of web engineering. It uses advanced technological features such as Apache Solr Search, implementation of Drupal's organic groups concept, CRM for Fundraising software integration, and dynamic mapping to let the organic food & health community know where and how Alice Water's concepts are spreading and taking root.
